In addition to our Coorong National Park’ cruises we operate a number of specialty day cruise options on the River Murray, Lower Lakes & Coorong region in South Australia. Each specialty cruise has a few departures schedulled each calendar year. Find more informaiton below:

RIVER MURRAY DAY CRUISE

Cruising along the majestic River Murray between Goolwa & Murray Bridge, South Australia. We offer this cruise in either an upstream or/ downstream format covering the same section of the River Murray. Each tour will depart from the historic main wharf in Goolwa, South Australia (free parking available) where you will either depart by boat on our luxurious “Spirit of the Murray” cruising upstream or/ depart by coach & road to Murray Bridge to begin your downstream cruise.

Scenic highlights include:

  • Goolwa wharf, Hindmarsh Island, Clayton,  Point Sturt,  Lake Alexandrina, lake crossing, Point Malcolm Lighthouse, Pomanda Island, Wellington, Jervois irrigation area, Tailem Bend cliffs & Murray Bridge. 

Cruise Inclusions:

  • Lunch & Morning or/ Afternoon are served during the cruise and the captain provides an informative commentary throughout the Cruise. A Coach transfer is also incuded either at the begginning of the tour from Goolwa to Murray Bridge to begin the Cruise or/ at the conclusion of the Cruise from Murray Bridge back to Goolwa.

COORONG, RIVER & LAKES EXPERIENCE

Board our “Spirit of the Murray” vessel from Historic Goolwa Wharf to begin your Lakes & Coorong experience. Travelling upstream you will view Goolwa & Hindmarsh Island waterfront whilst passing the lower Murray tributaries of Currency Creek & Finnis River. Continuing upstream we pass the township of Clayton Bay, the private islands: Goose, Goat & Rat Islands. We head past Point Sturt into Lake Alexandrina (Australia’s largest freshwater lake), at point McLeay view (from the water) the first Aboriginal Mission in Australia ‘Raukkan’. We then pass the historic Point Malcolm Lighthouse & the township of Narrung as we enter the “narrows” joining Lake Alexandrina & Lake Albert. We then cross Lake Albert to Meningie before boarding our coach to travel the short 25kms by land to Long Point on the Coorong.

At Long Point, board our “Spirit of the Coorong” & cruise through the Coorong National Park. Head towards the Murray Mouth, passing the barrages Tauwitchere & Ewe Island. Then onto the old fishing village of “Sleepy Hollow”. Continue cruising passing by Mundoo Channel and to the mouth of the mighty Murray River & on to the lock of the Goolwa Barrage and returning to the departure point at the Goolwa Wharf at ~4pm.

The tour also operates in reverse order. (9:30am Upstream Departure Start / 10am Downstream Departure Start)
